There are some word meaning that can encompass the sky, the words with different meanings for different perspectives. One word with so many connotations and denotations that it becomes difficult to curtail the spirit of the word’s meaning in words. One such word is ‘Freedom’.
There are innumerable verbs and nouns you can use with freedom and still it won’t suffice. What happens in this tussle of the right meaning and essence of the word, various little, complicated and crucial nuances get lost.
This is what happens with Freedom, the freedom to speech, think, and other canonical representations take the center stage and the important lilliputians are lost in their massive shadow.
There are various other hidden, minor facets of Freedom which we don’t give importance, which are neglected like our elbows, but, they are actually very important.
They seem trivial, we take them way too lightly to appreciate it. We don’t even notice that we are missing it or that we have it. One such Freedom is, Freedom to represent ourselves the way we want.
This post is not only to highlight the freedom but an attempt to build gratitude for this hidden, underrated freedom.
The freedom to express ourselves is to wear what we want, to display our personality in a way that we want, including our clothes, our hair, the accessories we carry, and all the other parts of our personality.
It is the freedom to carry ourselves the way we desire. It is not merely freedom, but a power, power to follow your heart, to paint yourself the way you want, to express unapologetically.
To be in a place where whatever you wear won’t fetch labels for you, where clothes don’t define you. This is a crucial fredom.
Going by your heart, listening to it, obeying it, is a privilege, a Freedom to live.
I hope we build a world where no one has to stop themself from wearing what they want irrespective of what the society thinks, what their age is, how much they weigh, the way the curves are built, or what their sex is!
